2007 Technical Guidelines for Waterway Management

Cover for 2007 Technical Guidelines for Waterway ManagementThe Technical Guidelines for Waterway Management (Guidelines) represent current best management practice and incorporate advances in environmental and technical practice for river health restoration and protection, since the publication in 1991 of the Guidelines for Stabilising Waterways.

In order to achieve the most effective beneficial river health outcomes for the resources and effort invested, program implementation should be in accordance with best management practice and in recognition of the underlying geomorphologic and ecological processes operating within the river.

These Guidelines will assist waterway management professionals with above and in the planning, design and implementation of river health programs within a clearly defined planning framework. The Guidelines have been developed by the Office of Water at DSE, with funding support from the Australian Government's National Action Plan for Water Quality and Salinity.
