Rainfall - September 2009
Total rainfall for September was either average or above average across Victoria. This is significantly better than the September rainfalls for the past three years, which were all well below average for most of the state. Following on from the close-to-average rainfall during July and August, the September rain has provided a much-needed boost for Victoria’s waterways and reservoirs leading up to the summer months.
The highest total monthly rainfall of 373.4 mm was recorded at Mt Baw Baw. Generally, the highest totals between 200 and 300 mm were recorded in the upper catchments of the Yarra, Goulburn and Thomson Rivers and the upper reaches of the Murray/Indi River.
Melbourne received 67.4 mm of rainfall in September, higher than the long-term September average of 58.0 mm.
