'Current' flows are 'instantaneous' flows, polled by phone on the date specified. In dry conditions, they provide a reasonable indication of flows for the month. However, where there have been recent rains, the 'instantaneous' flows will not necessarily be representative of monthly flows.

Typically, there are 3 streamflow gauging stations in each Catchment Management Region that provide data for this report. These are selected to provide a representative 'picture' of natural flows across the state.
