State Water Report

Scenic Images from various State Water Reports

The State Water Report provides an annual overview of water availability and use across Victoria at bulk supply level.

The Report is part of the continued delivery of the State Water Accounts announced in the Victorian Government’s 2004 Our Water Our Future action plan.

The water accounts in the report draw on information from water authorities, Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE), the Essential Services Commission, the Murray Darling Basin Commission and catchment management authorities.

Each State Water Report is divided into three parts:

  • Part 1 provides a detailed overview of Victoria’s water resources throughout the year, including information on imposed restrictions due to water scarcity;
  • Part 2 comprises a water account for each of Victoria’s 29 river basins;
  • Part 3 looks at the direction of water resource management.
The State Water Report is available online so that water resource information is more accessible to all sectors of the community.
