Northern Victoria Irrigation Renewal Project

Logo of Northern Victoria Irrigation Renewal ProjectThe Northern Victoria Irrigation Renewal Project (NVIRP) is the organisation responsible for delivering a $2 billion program of works to modernise and upgrade aging irrigation infrastructure in Northern Victoria.

The district is the pride of Victoria and home to 14,000 irrigators who contribute $1.5 billion to the economy each year.

The project is integral to the Victorian Government’s investment in major infrastructure projects announced as part of its Our Water Our Future – The Next Stage of the Government’s Water Plan.

Modernisation will provide the Goulburn Murray Irrigation District with a world class irrigation delivery system that will reduce water losses and secure the region's future prosperity.

NVIRP will deliver a world’s best practice irrigation network and ensure northern Victorian irrigators remain internationally competitive for decades to come.

The project will bring greater confidence to the Goulburn Murray Irrigation District as more investment and business opportunities, new jobs and economic growth further stimulate regional development.

More information about the project is available on the NVIRP website, including information about the NVIRP environmental planning processes and approval
