National Water Week - get involved

23 September 2009

National Water Week logoAll Australians are encouraged to dive into National Water Week, 18-24 October 2009.

National Water Week 2009 is a premier community water awareness event hosted by the Australian Water Association (AWA) in partnership with the National Water Commission.

It's a great opportunity to learn about the simple things we can do to protect our waterways and be efficient in our water use.

There are a number of activities happening during National Water Week, including:

  • Walk 4 Water. Walk 10,000 steps every day during the month of October to experience what millions of people in developing nations experience every day to fetch water, while raising money for charity WaterAid
  • MDBA River Health Conference, a gathering of over 2,500 students from across Australia and the world converging on Canberra to discuss rivers and sustainability
  • Collingwood Sustainable Neighbourhood Guided Walking Tour
  • Port Melbourne’s Grow Your Own Garden design workshop
