Underground power preferred for Desalination Project

28 May 2009

Water glass filled with fresh waterThe State Government’s preferred power source for the Victorian Desalination Project is underground electricity from the grid, which will be fully offset through the purchase of renewable energy.

In making the announcement, the Victorian Premier, John Brumby, said the underground power supply route would go along the desalination pipeline alignment from the plant site to an existing overhead power line easement at Pound Road, Clyde North, and then travel along this easement to an existing terminal station in Cranbourne.
