Dams
Dams are used for different purposes. The impact of dams depends on their location within a catchment, their size, evaporation rates, use and level of development in the catchment.
Dams can be located on or off waterways. A take and use licence is required for all new dams used for purposes other than domestic and stock.
A construction licence is required for all dams on waterways and large dams off waterways. Licensing authorities will advise the particular licensing requirements for a proposed dam site.
