Save water. Target 155

Are you on Target 155?

Well done Melbourne - we were under Target 155 this week.

We are still facing a hot and dry summer, so we all need to use no more than 155 litres a day and stick to Stage 3a water restrictions:

  • Check to see if your garden really needs to be watered – stick your fingers near the root area to see if it needs water.
  • Only water on your watering day, within your watering time:
     - Odd-numbered houses: Wednesday and Sunday.
     - Even-numbered and no-numbered houses: Saturday and Tuesday.
  • Did you know an average garden hose uses 15 litres of water a minute? If you use the hose for 10 minutes a day, and you’re almost at Target 155.
  • Use grey water in the garden instead - put a bucket in the shower while the water warms up or direct the rinse water from your washing machine to the garden.
  • Lawns may not be watered with drinking water at any time.
