Support 155 is a Government program which aims to help businesses, including small businesses, achieve water savings in metropolitan Melbourne.
Depending on the nature of your business, you may be eligible for assistance such as guidance on saving water at work, water saving audits and management plans.

What is the Support 155 Business Program?
The Support 155 Business Program is a targeted program to encourage all businesses (non-residential water use customers) to save water.
The Support 155 program is a ‘call to action’ and we encourage business customers that use less than 10 million litres of water to participate by:
- Assessing water use around your business and implement savings;
- Educating employees on the importance of water conservation in the workplace and;
- Registering on your water retailer’s website to demonstrate your commitment
Following registration, a resource kit will be mailed to you to provide a range of materials to assist with saving water at your workplace.
What are the big water users doing to save water?
Business customers that use more than 10 million litres of water per day will continue to develop and deliver their waterMAPS.
waterMAPs are a legal requirement for customers using more than 10 million litres of drinking water per year.
These customers are not required to directly take part in the Support 155 Business Program, however the retailers’ Key Customer Managers will continue to work closely with them to encourage these customers continue to progress with implementation of their waterMAPS.

Customers using 5 million litres – 10million litres per year will receive a resource kit which includes:
- Access to the WaterMAP program where businesses can identify and track water. consumption and implementation of water conservation initiatives.
- Best practice guidelines for water conservation.
- Site inspection checklist to assist in a walk through assessment of their workplace.
- A waterMAP handbook that includes details of how to go about assessing the measures that they can take to reduce water use in your workplace.
- A Certificate of commitment to the program.
- Showerhead Exchange form to order an exchange of old showerheads in their business for free water efficient ones.
- Stickers and signage to encourage a water wise culture at their business or organisation.
- Information on Our Water Our Future Cooling Tower efficiency program.
- A Web links document for further useful water conservation initiatives.
Customers using less than 5 million litres per year will receive a resource kit which includes:
- A Certificate of commitment to the program.
- Stickers and signage to encourage a water wise culture at their business or organisation.
- Showerhead Exchange form to order an exchange of old showerheads in their business for free water efficient ones.
- A Web links document for further useful water conservation initiatives.
- Basic site inspection checklist to assist with understanding site water usage and areas for water conservation.
- Best practice guidelines for water conservation.
How do I know how much water my business uses?
Gather your bills from the past year and add up the total water consumption. Water is measured in kilolitres (kL). I kL =1,000 litres.
Are water assessments available?
Some retailers are offering free water assessments for customers that use less than 5 million litres per year. This includes a free site audit to assist in identifying and prioritising water management initiatives at their site.
